Are non-genuine fuel pumps any good?

I had loads of problems with this non genuine Minispares fuel pump.  Couldn't get it to sit on the cam eccentric properly and decided I didn't like the material on the arm which contacts the camshaft either.  I used a good secondhand SU pump in the end which is probably thirty five years old and that works well.  Will probably fit electric eventually.

With the ball ache of a job to replace a mechanical pump with the engine in the car a genuine pump is the way to go. Burlen/su genuine pumps are now produced with an ethanol resistant diaphragm. We know what ethanol does to rubber fuel lines so a upgraded pump makes sense. Replaced the original pump on my Thirty last year with a new su pump.

With this in mind I should probably replace my old pump sooner rather than later.

Yes a mechanical pump is a pain to change, especially with an LCB type exhaust however they are alot safer than how some people wire in electronic pumps.

Mechanical all the way for me
