The failure mode is usually push clutch pedal and plunger goes in and sticks,causing the pedal to be permanently hard.Penetrant and working round and round in small circular movements can release it.Steve..

Thanks all. Got good proper penetrating oil. Got a spanner on the plunger and as sonscar said, moved it back and forth in very small movements and it popped right out. Not even a single swear used.

Time to give it a service, a bit of a tune and sort the brakes and it should be close.
