Hi all,

Trying to get my Austin Mayfair stated after 6 years. It had a blown head gasket. I have replaced this and had a few niggly issues with an electronic distributor so reverted to new points. I have got the car running however it is spluttering fuel out the air intake of the Hs4.

I have managed to get the distributor to 4 degrees as it was very advanced but the problem is persistent.

There is also exhaust gas by the looks of it coming from the intake.

I did the tappet adjustments following a tutorial and I know I have to get the car to temp and then re-torque but I don't want to run it too long with this issue.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I will try to answer any questions to diagnose this.

Thanks a ton.
