I like that idea, we can go around saying "my car's grade 1 listed", there's whole new market in window stickers there for starters, lolThey could do with a scheme like the heritage trust and greenbelt laws. areas of land can be protected from being built on, old buildings can be listed so cannot be torn down, surely a mini - playing a vital role in this country's history can become britain's first listed vehicle?

Dear ------
Thank you for your email dated June 5, 2009. I am sorry that you feel that I have not understood your initial concern. As a classic car enthusiast myself, I can assure you that I do fully appreciate the comments you have made.
The decision to advertise the scrappage scheme on a mini is not a directive from MINI UK. Our Approved Dealership Network are independent businesses and they will make their own decisions regarding what advertising they place. While we can pass on the feedback we receive, it is not something that we are able to prevent them from doing.
Under the scrappage scheme, the vehicle traded in must be scrapped by the dealership once delivery of the replacement vehicle has been supplied to the customer. Therefore, Douglas Park Hamilton, or any other dealership, are not able to sell the vehicle on for a profit.
I am sorry that you remain unhappy with the actions of Douglas Park Hamilton and I trust that this information clarifies that this is not a MINI UK promotion.
Your sincerely

BMW Maidstone has one on display too!! >
Its an insult to the classic mini!! I'm saddened that they agreed to it. It just goes to show what classic mini owners always thought...... Binis are NOT minis, they are just cars and BMW do NOT care, and yet they wonder why they are not accepted into the mini world?!?!?
Where do they have one on display then? I went up there today and there was no classic Mini.

Got a bit carried away over there but what a couple of 'rhymes with bankers' they were/are - gordon bennet, mods had to close the thread and edit a load of comments out at one point!
Well done for your efforts Minirog and Saad..........kept an eye on all your posts over there while at work!

LOL, that'll be a slightly more difficult nut to crack methinks!Right, on to the MPs next...
I have already sent off letters and emails, and have already had a phone call back from one government department who says; although they are extremely busy at the moment (elections if you didnt notice) they will discuss the issue and come back to me.
And this is someone actually phoning me from the Govt. not an automated response.
Fingers crossed.
Thanks CMcB for your very well judged efforts in getting the result we all wanted to see and by proving even big companies like BMW can listen and understand with the right approach, rather than the ranting and jumping to all the wrong conclusions some favour.

No worries mate, I think we managed to keep the vast majority on side and frankly any argy bargy was down to 2/3 people I'd describe as complete idiots - I think at one point they were literally trolling and flaming me deliberately, that was the point the mods stepped in and sensibly cleaned their tripe out (they were on to a bit of a looser anyway because I know some of the mods there and they are great classic Mini fans as you're probably aware).Yes it felt a bit like that and by the time I got home the thread was closed so all I could do to help you both was add a few "Thanks" responses!!
Interesting day though when a Mini/MINI debate gets closed on a new MINI forum and is still going strong on a classic forum which is kudos to all here frankly

i think that drivers who see their car as just a car are pathetic, i would never sell my mini, the same way that if i had say an audi i would never want to sell that either.
the scrappage scheme should be a trap,
''ive come to scrap my car''
'right this way sir'
