Absolutely Gutted!!!

It passed its MOT, its got a years road tax and insurance.

BUT i couldnt fix the engines running problem in time.

At first under load the engine would splutter and not run but just about idle, then it would pick back up and run properly so i changed the plugs, leads, coil pack and crank sensor, but that didnt sort the problem.

The i thought well the only other thing that could be the problem was not getting fuel, but it was a brand new pump so i thougth surely it couldnt be that, but i checked the fuel return and sometimes it would get a good high pressure then other times it would just dribble, so there lied my problem, either a blockage in the fuel rail or the pump was shagged.

So i have an electric fuel pump for a carb, so i ran that in the system before my pump to see if it made a different (the time now being about 7 so no way i could buy a new hight pressure pump) and it definitely made a slight difference to the spluttering.

So now in theory i could get a new pump tomorrow morning, and get it ready just in time for the ferry, but i think its a bit of an ask for the car to make it to germany and back so luckly i have had an offer from Ali off here so ill be going over with him.

So majorly gutted, but happy in a way as it means i can test the car before such a bit journey i now know were the engine problem lies.

Thats a major bummer Tom, gutted for you, you've put so much work into this as well.

(Get a fuel pump and risk it, you know you want too!!)

Have faith in your workmanship!!

The car will be fine, get the pump nailed on, go to the ring, job done.

Yea its not the pressure regulator as i took the inline pump off the car and tested it in buckets and it would would pump fine then the pressure would be lost and come back and lost again, etc...

Do none of the other cars in your workshop have inline pumps?
