Ah, I've been looking forward to an update on this, not sure how I missed it. I don't know if you remember me, but I bought an interior off you, was it out of this car? Oh, what are you doing filtration wise? I know next to nothing about engines, but I'm guessing you need something on those trumpets, though I'm probably wrong :P

I remember, don't worry! haha. Nah, that interior was from one of my other mini's, I wish I still had it now! lol.

As for the filters you are completely right! Although I consider it a sin to cover the trumpets up :P I'm going to get some filter socks like these -

I'm not sure how they'll fare as I hear mixed opinions about them, but I'll try them and see :D

Looks great, the BMW head looks almost a factory fit very nice.Just be wary of the sock air filters as they can contract and starve the engine.

can they not also get sucked in? (or is that my imagination?)

That's my main concern with the sock filters, having them collapse and potentially starve the engine.
You cable tie them on so they don't get sucked in.
I'm looking at making some form of support to go inside them, made out of some fine stainless steel mesh, there's not a great deal of room behind the bonnet to stand them off as far as I'd like to, but I'm sure I can sort something out that will work :D

fillter socks are alright, not the best thought, better going to ITG getting your back plate made up to fit the trumpet centres and then having a filter there, it does the job and going to protect the engine suffucently

That is something I have thought of, the only problem is where the accelerator cable attaches, in between the two middle trumpets and would come into the plate, I could possibly 'modify' the bracket to suit! :D

Lol, I have got one way of sorting it, remove the throttle bodys, which I think will work a treat!! :shifty: And fit something like in the link below ;) If I get a student loan next year it might be an option haha, there is a big space behind the head which I think is a bit wasted and needs filling  65% power increase, yes please =]

I will sort something! it'll hopefully be going for an MOT in the next fortnight :proud:

that would be quite a setup, at least the loan would be going to good use.

The engine sounds very good well worth the wait. It looks good as well and it suits the engine bay nicely. Good effort that man

Lol, yeah it would be :P it's going to be my daily at college/uni, so I need reliable transport, haha.

Thanks, I think it looks right at home in there as if it was meant to be standard :D
