awesome project. Considering an SC twincam myself. How's the clearance with the bonnet on the head? Do you think you'll clear if you notch the bonnet ribs like SC says?

Thanksyou  What clearance? lol. I think the bonnet actually touches the cam belt end of the head :) The X-brace needs to be removed from the steel bonnet, I have a fibreglass bonnet for this reason. I may need to get a 16v bulge bonnet...

that's a mild inconvenience for me, I don’t want a new bonnet, esp. one with a big tell-tale bulge. On the same account, I don’t want to have to install an auto trans subframe or cobble together some engine mounts either.

So you think you’d have to remove the ribs and space the bonnet up to keep the stocker?

If it's a steel bonnet then no I shouldn't think so, at worst the bonnet may need raising a little, but it does fit under the standard bonnet. I'm obviously running the MPi subframe, and I think, 'think' that the engine mounts slightly more forward the same as the auto's but don't quote me on that, not entirely sure. O_O

Yes, running 11.5:1 compression, I posed the same question when buying the kit, but thats what they build them to run and they are quiet happy on normal fuel, however I think I'll run it on optimax or similar.

So today, I managed to get a lie in  lol. But I've started to pipe it up - the breather and oil drains are connected up, I'll let the pictures do the talking, I'm to tired :P

You can just about see the re-angled water pump outlet.

Little bit bored at work earlier, so I made a pipe connector to go from 16mm ID to 12mm ID for the heater pipe to bypass on the thermostat. The aluminium tube has arrived today so I can make up all the hose joiners and get all the cooling in place. I'm waiting for my rad and exhaust still, I'll be chasing Minispeed about that again in the morning ^_^

With a bit of luck, this weekend

I ordered the leads, coil and bracket today from SC, so should arrive by saturday. Sorted the exhaust with minispeed now, so that should arrive tomorrow, but I won't get the rad until next week, so I'm going to use the original when I fire it up. =]
So this is the current state it is in -

Ok, so it doesn't look like it'll be running today either :) I was hoping to fit the exhaust today but unfortunately Minispeed sent me the wrong link pipe on friday and the correct one was suppose to turn up today, but it hasn't :) Think I might have to find a beer garden somewhere instead to spend my time in this nice weather :) lol

Anyway, here's the current state of the engine -

It is!! The radiator will be with me tomorrow :) after nearly a two week wait, because it had to be made to order. So I can get that fitted tomorrow maybe. And the link pipe for the exhaust is sorted, sort of :) I rang maniflow to order one, I thought it was 2" inner diameter its actually 1 7/8" so I've got to ring up before they start making it!! :)

Hopefully I will still have it running this weekend, I hope :tumble: But nothing seems to be going right for me at the moment :) lol.

Oh, and my wheel plans have changed, I'm going to run my Starmags on this and the banded steelies on my 1000, I think they will suit it more. And I'm changing them from black to silver :genius:

Posted Image

They should look pretty damn smart with the triangly bits painted black and the uber sexy A032 rubber on them :gimme:

And I'm really pleased with the dash :) just got to put a few more bits back on it.

Posted Image

Oh yeah, I must thank the TMF team for the 10% discount from minispares I bought a few more bits I needed  Thankies =]

What a great day! lol, or not.

To start with the radiator turned up, all good

Posted Image

Went to the garage to see if it fitted, it doesn't :) The body work is going to need some more modifying. Because, as I feared the core is thicker :dontgetit: So it hits the alternator.

Posted Image

Then to add insult to injury one of the core plugs on the block is leaking  and needs replacing, not a hard job, just a ruddy inconvenience :errr:

Posted Image

I bought these off ebay, look nice, the backs are chrome and not great :ermm:

Posted Image

Major bummer man.

Yep using the standard MPi fan, I tested it earlier, at least that works, lol. Those Radtec ones are nice, but pricey  But they will be no end lighter that the uprated one I have bought, it was £240, so not exactly cheap either :)
