Sir Cheat, I've removed the images of the magazine from your post. Thankyou for pointing out the magazine issue number but we cannot allow the posting of copyrighted material on the forum.

I do advise everyone to try and get a look at a copy, however.

When the Mainstream Mini Cooper Register forum was still running, we were told by the powers that be at Mini Magazine that they preferred it if we didn't scan and display pages from the current issue of the magazine. But they didn't mind if it was older issues (i.e. NLA at the shops).

Would like to see the review as I think I've missed that mag out ;D

I can't officially comment, but the policy was that anything older than the current issue was ok. They only stock six months of back issues, and as this article is older than six months, I cannot see them having a problem with it, but you would need to email the magazine editor to confirm.

dont look like the same mini! bottom one looks like a white mini convertable with no bodykit!

that was my mini trailer i was doing to match. but never got round to finishing it before malvern show.
just seems like a curse that i have never been to that show with any mini.

1st time... did not finish it in time... went in a mondeo
2nd time... hub nut sheared off and needed new cv joint
3rd time (yesterday)... disaster. burnt out just as i got on the m42 from tamworth services between j9 and j10

That's a lot of fire... :proud:

full tank of fuel + 2 jerry cans. just to make sure i got there.

thinking back i think i must have over filled the tank.. and staight out the tank breather or something.
my amp in the boot.
or just fumes around the boot ignited off my indicator bulb in the back
as it must have all happened when i was overtaking a lorry.

i dont know... just totally soul distroying and really gutted (more than my mini lol)
glad the fireman gave it a good wash for me but they took the paint off lol.. i hate pressure washers!!

what was in the car....

me.... (as the medic put it)...alart, orientated and in good humour full OBS taken no signs of smoke inhalation
advised to travel to hospital but declined.
jay...... as above

tools... 90% saved. all spanners, sockets ratchets all ok but a little discoloured perfect to use.
a £300 sony a200 camera 30% melted ...totalled but i will try and switch it on to see if any life is in it tomorrow
phone...gone!
tamiya rover mini r/c car... £180 ...gone!
50th mini world fleese... gone!
mini world mag... back page stuck to camera apart from that ....gone!
mini magazine....gone!
pack lunch....gone + mac tools cooler back + cooler
6x cans of monster energy totalling £6.80.... gone!
2x packets of harribo....gone!.... gutted!! damn!
and the thunderbird 2 famous cone hat...gone!... no more pub for him for a while. lol
2x brand new yokohamma tyres fitted the start of march.

1x fusion amp 100% mint condition!!!!!!!!!! woooo!! and im not joking!
1x can of petrol (green) on the m42 between j9 and j10 south worth £5....free to anyone brave enough to stop for it. lol
1x1400 engine
1x rollcage
1x 3" custom made centre twin dtm exhaust modified for tow bar (with more than a burnt tip lol)
4x supalites in need of a refurb.

the total damage is starting from tomorrow when i recover it.
so i will know exactly how much it will cost me from now till it is rebuilt
im estimating (with the reseats i have) around £5000 to £6000
and £200 damage to the trailer including parts i was going to sell at malvern.

so yer not bad really
as for the insurance... im not claiming ... cheaper for me to just take it on the chin and keep my NCB for my subaru.
so i start that on 4years no claims..

would have to be a flip front again as i love just taking the front end off and the engine just being there. makes work so much easier. :proud:

so ya im basically looking for a shell to transfer my engine across (hopefully if the subframes ok that as well)
so all i gotta do is bolt my front end on and start bodywork

im doing it up exactly the same as i did with a twist... a nice flame decal based on the TMF logo on the boot lid petrol tank side so everyone on the TMF will know. :)
thats the plan i should have the whole car done by stanford 2011 easy :)

roll on winter 2011! woo...

Be very careful stripping your car. Certain nitrile rubbers decompose into the most incredibly corrosive acid when exposed to fire. If you get it on your skin it will eat right through to the bone very quickly and often the only medical treatment available is rapid amputation of the limb to prevent the acid spreading throughout the whole body. These rubbers can be found in the fuel hoses, lamp gaskets, screen seals, O rings, the battery clamp, etc. etc. Take care, wear thick rubber gloves, and don't strip down anything that you don't have to if it contains rubber. Accept when things are burned beyond use and just junk them without investigating. This is why burned cars should go to scrap yards automatically.
