A damn awesome piece of Aussie History! I believe that it's a LJ Holden Torana and I'd guess that has a 186 or 202 engine.

Aren't Holdens in Australia, Vauxhalls in the UK?

It probably does, not that I know what a Firenza is! The Holden Motor Company, based in Aust (at least in the short term!) at some point came under the GMH umbrella. Some of the 'locally' designed and manufactured cars they did were based on various Vauxhalls and Opels, but invariably had some Aussie touches eg, that Model Vauxhall you've mentioned no doubt was only availabe as a 4 cylinder in the UK (and Europe??) however I seem to recall that some remodelling of the firewall and floor pan was done here and most were fitted with 6 cylinder engines. There was a 2 door variant known as the GT-R, basically the Cooper S variant of this Model Torana, it was raced and rallied with tremendous success, it even took the place of the Minis in the Police Highway Patrol. I've driven a couple of these cars and right off the factory floor, they were pretty quick, but would also swap ends in the blink of an eye.

The factory even toyed with a V8 (350 chev engine I think) version in this body, while this never went in to production, it was a popular conversion. The later Toranas (also likely Vauxhall or Opel based) were a little bigger, these were available in everything from 2.2. litre 4 cylinder up to 5 litre V8s

Ah... Didn't see... Didn't notice the poster is from Perth... It'll be a Holden Torana (never heard of a Torana) there, that'd be a Vauxhall Firenza here... I was mostly right!

Hi all...
Yep.. you are all right... Its a Holden 1970 LC Torana... It began from a vauxhall version and there are many similar cars here in Oz with 4 cylinders in them... it has a 186 in it now but a 202 with triple webbers to go in soon... (the mini put that all back a bit..)
This has been in my wifes family from new... it was her grandmothers and we have had it for about 18 years now... Looks a bit different now after I did a bit of a resto on it...
Glad you like it and yes... they look great together!!!
Cheers
