Starting stripping my mk1 for some welding work yesterday.

My girlfriend is away for the weekend, do you think she will notice this when she gets back...

P.S. I know they are mk2 seats that were fitted to a mk1

I live in a 3 floor flat, so don't have a loft to hide stuff in :( . So I had to load it all in the car, carry it down the road and then up 3 flights of twisty stairs. Pain in the ar$e!!!

Fitted new Gaz shocks to the front, without jacking or taking off the wheels - was a long fiddly job!

Cant take wheels off, as was not given the locking nut (thats a job for another day). Thought there was little point jacking, if i could reach under for all the bolts...

Oh and bolts on there (all but one) were pretty much rounded, luckily enough had three spares lying around (hidden in the shed).

So took a little longer than it should, but thats one job down (list to get through for MOT next week).

Got Clubby ready for his engine transplant. The current engine is entirely disconnected and partially stripped and just "sitting" in the bay. The new engine is sat on a pallet under waterproofs just waiting to jump in when I next get a day off.  :-)

More like what's been done over the past week - Fitted longer studs and spacered drums front and rear. Greased all the points and throttle cable and gave it a good wash, polish and wax :)

Fitted a new thermostat and unbolted the rad.
A bit of a can of worms, as the rad is seriously sludged up, and I know the head gasket is on its last legs, and the timing gear is worn, so this could turn into a week's jobs.

Removed the rad, replaced the water pump, flushed the coolant system through, cleaned everything that came off and went back on (including about 20min cleaning the fan) put pretty silicone hoses on, ran out of hose clips, skinned several knuckles and found out I didn't have the right coolant to fill everything back up.
