Connected up the drive train to me new engine. Re-connected the gear linkage and put sundry other bits on too. I`m getting there slowly but it`s a nice job and gives me satisfaction.

Removed and drained fuel tank, bolt was being a pain in the butt on the strap.
Oil drained too, ready for engine removal to begin in earnest.

Realised I may be a tad out of my comfort zone.
Read the Haynes manual again.

If you're planning on replacing the rubber pipe go under neath and clamp the pipe, cut the pipe and drain it into cans. If not then get a syphon.

My new high-tech dizzy and coil arrived today, can`t fit the former yet because I don`t know what position the engine is in and I can`t move it yet. Went to Minispares and bought loads of bits and spent a happy day putting most of them on the engine

Tried to fit duplex timing sprockets and chain.
Failed.
Swore at it.
Scratched my head whilst looking at it.
Repeated the above, for over 2 hours, with occasional minor variants.
Swore at it some more.
Contemplated doing a Basil Fawltey on it, though with something a little more metalic than a branch.
Got there in the end though.

Managed to remove a fair amount today despite one of the manifold bolts being an absolute pain in the arse.
Carb, exhaust manifold, alternator, starter motor, dizzy and coil all removed today. Not much to go before engine is hoisted out, though i need a chain.
