Purchased this Mini via the forum (yesterday evening) That water patch on the road was from another car, not the Mini.

Failed an MOT yesterday, so I've sorted the mapping and adjusted the rear brakes ready for the re-test

New rear wheel cylinder and made up a new brake line. Gave it a wash after nearly 3 years in my lockup.

Adjusted brake light switch as it was stopping the brake pedal returning fully & causing the brakes to drag (had smoking brakes yesterday!).

Took it to get MOT tested.

Failed.

Oil leak - Ha!
CV boot split.
Uneven braking force distribution.
High emissions.
Catalytic converter not present. Not sure with this one as its a 1994 car but has a carburettor.

I have the cat issue (1995 registered on a hif38 carb!) what I am told is that it should be fitted, it will fail anyway, then the computer asks to manually input the info for the car, it isnt on the system so it passes it as an older version, something along those lines. I think you will at least need an empty cat or a friendly tester (I have both :) )

Discovered the source of the oil leak inside the car. The foot well was soaked in oil after a leak from the oil pressure gauge. Unknown to me 15 miles from home (that's when the gauge started fluctuating) the diaphragm in the gauge burst and oil started pumping into the foot well. Ho hum.
