The brake warning light switch? should light up when you push it! Come to think of it, I've never had one of these light up when the brakes were faulty! anybody else? :D

Mine was flickering the other day on tick over. The fluid level was fine but one of the terminals was corroded. Cleaned it up a bit and it stopped. Still lit up when I pushed it though.

You're going to like this. It tests the bulb in the switch works when you press it. It's an mot fail if it doesn't work. The bulb is the low level brake fluid warning light.

I am just about to take my Mini for a MOT and the low level brake fluid light doesn't work, if I remove the switch altogether is this a way around the problem, I intend removing it completely and fitting the rear fog light switch in its place.

I'd be surprised if your MOT tester bothers to check this switch. I'd bet most of them don't even know what it does.

Thanks I had no idea! I might put in a warning light near the clocks where it's more likely to catch my eye if it ever lights up.

I can put my rear fog switch in the empty space it'll leave me and get rid of a cheap crappy looking silver add on switch cluster with one half-size switch in it. Another of the previous owners touches.

After a 500 mile round trip I managed to pick up some mint condition original 1275GT seats for my Mini, I have just given them a clean and will be repainting the frames before they are fitted.

New stainless steel headlamp inner rings fitted. Much better and won't rust like the previous chrome ones I had on which did rust in the end.

Tailored sound proof bonnet felt kit added.
