I can see it isn't a major issue at all and is a funny sticker- what I cant see is how the OP and several others cant seem to understand that swearing is generally not acceptable in public places! Do you walk around swearing in the street where people and children can hear you, or job interviews etc as someone else has said? If not then the only reason possible can be- because you know it isn't right!

A single asterix in the swear word would please the cops, we will all know what it means and probably find it funny, and far less people would find it offensive, maybe you don't quite have enough grey matter to understand words when they have a censored mark through them?!!

I'm doing 4 A levels and have 4 offers from Good Universities to start in september, to study Biology! So, God help anybody with less brain matter. I am not being cocky, but you pushed it

I won't be removing it anyway, and as for section 5. It isn't abusive or threatening at all. The sticker is aimed at Classic minis being 'true' and the german minis being 'S***'. Offensive to a car, wow, this world is crazy.
And if anybody would class this sticker as racist, then fine I am racist. Yes, I am racist for saying that the BMW mini is, in my opinion, S***. So am I racist equally for thinking that Australian Wine is awful, or thinking my Foreign TV is rubbish??

I think that here on a mini forum everyone knows what your sticker is supposed to mean!

The fact that you yourself don't find it abusive or racist yourself and that it is not your intention for it to viewed as racist is irrelevant. The point is that such a statement could be interpreted as abusive by others and that is how it would be viewed legally. But I think you need to make the distinction between your opinion and committing an offence, you are perfectly entitled to think anything you like about whatever you like. But when you publicly display a message that can be considered derogatory to a certain nations people then you are potentially committing an offence. Far from us playing the race card, you came here specifically asking if displaying your sticker was illegal. Nobody is calling you a racist, they are merely pointing out under which laws you could be deemed as committing an offence. Wether you like it or not, once you publicly make a statement that could easily be considered derogatory to a certain nations people, then yes you are potentially committing an offence under a number of race related acts.

You also don't seem to be too clear about what is illegal and what isn't. Based on your opinion you are quite legally entitled to display a sticker such as "BWM Mini hater" or "100% free of BMW parts", they do not use or insinuate the use of abusive language, nor are they specifically derogatory to Germans. It's not the fact that you hate the car that is the problem, it's the fact that you are using offensive language in reference to Germany!!

Of course it is entirely your choice, but you would be rather unwise to continue to display that sticker, as you have already been give a friendly warning about it by the police. If you do continue to display it, then the Police are unlikely to be as reasonable if you are found displaying again. Also if I were that particular officer, then I'm sure I'd be keeping a special eye out for you, just to see if you had heeded my advice or if you were continuing to commit the same offence. The point with the law is that you are not actually required to like it or agree with it, just to abide by it!

.... & that is all I have to say on the matter, for if I were to continue this debate then I fear that I would be guilty of contradicting my own advice about arguing!!

The whole country has become far too PC which I think is detremental to us all. This is a little off topic but shows others attitude to being PC:

It took a lot of courage for this woman to speak what she had to say for the
world to hear. The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least
she was willing to take a stand on her and Australia 's beliefs.

Did you not hear on the news a few months ago, and quite regularly actually. Groups of extremist Muslims parading in city centres, and at Wooton Basset at the home coming of our dead troops publicly displaying slogans such as 'F*** British troops' and 'Burn Britians in hell' . This is slightly more offensive, and they are some of the tame slogans I saw. So get real in telling me mine is an offense. The only reason he had a go at me, and they were allowed to continue is because this country for whatever reason seems to be afraid to insult, offend, or stop any body with an ethnic background!!!

Seriously though, this woman is a legend for what she did! And bloody hell she is right! I would ditch this country and go over to Australia, but that is what 'they' want. to be honest, if sharia law was implemented in this country, I'd have to say i'd become White Extremist to stop it!!

never met a worthwhile copper!

they only interested in doin easy police work and winding people up too get them agrivated so thy can they be arrested!

they cant find killers,rapists and terrorist because ther too busy watchin the gereral motorists incase theyve got an illegal number plate they can be fined for
(or in this case an offensive sticker)

had my car stolen once,they never even sent anyone round too see me,said someone might be round 2mo,i said the car will still be in the area they couldnt care less,i ride up a 1way street the wrong way on my bike,and its a full on chase like im a huge criminal!!

jobsworths just like the plastic pigs (community officers) who are just failed coppers and people who have a chip on their shoulder and want too pretend too have some kind of power

its a rant and if you dont agree then fine,deal with it.

what about when they do something wrong who polices them??? oh yeah themself oh thats ok then (not like they will be biast or anything)

The officer probably spent 10 minutes maximum on this "job" which could prevent the OP from potentially getting arrested and charged with numerous offences which would take hours/days to process then would have to go to court and so on and so forth.

10 minutes to save thousands of pounds and hundreds of hours later on seems like an excellent use of police time.
