j-lo, i am a using some special polish for my wheels, called belgom alu. its a metal polish that contains a wax, meaning that the finish will last for weeks, so i only really need to polish them every month, but i may end up polish them every week anyway.

stickolip, that exhaust as original and different as it is, has gone, i'm sticking to a much more subtle side exit, looks less chav, imo.

i have purchased a better backbox than the one that i came up with first time, a nice 3" stainless steel side exit backbox. keep thing nice and subtle. so today i remove the turbo down pipe, to get to the clamp. as many of you already know the original clamp was designed to fit a 1.5" (i think) down pipe. yet the one many are supplied with are 2". all that needs modifying is the collar on the clamp, which needs opening up. 2 hours with the dremel and its done. down pipe back on and i started to measure up the new system.

then it start to rain! just a note, the downpipe is a bloody awarkward doobrie to remove. it took me 2 hours, and lots of swearing to final remove the 2 bolts on the clamp. pics and hopefully more progress to come tommorow, for now a random pic.

Outta interest (not criticising)..Why aren't you running the fog lamp wire throught the hole you should have on the off side end of the rear valance?

the wire running to the fog lamp is for the number plate lights, i am just using them to hold the fog lamp from the floor as i move the car round. the number plate will probabily be mounted under the valance, hence why the wires are routed there.

i've had that from many other forums i've posted on too, i think i'll keep my wacky ideas to myself next time! i just can't wait to drive the bugger, only a few months now.

small list of things needed till i get her on the road

carbon dashboard
cat 1 alarm
steering wheel
pedal rubbers
2 more savage led dash switches
passanger seat and subframe
2 core radiator
headlight and bowl
and a few more which i can't think of now.

i bide my time mini boo. still got several electrical bits to do, but i am fitting the alarm to the car myself, gulp. fitted one to my old escort, which had worse wiring. also have to wire in the gauges. i may be able to throw on the carb this weekend and see what she sounds like with the exhaust.

there are lots of little ends i need to tie up, which i half did first time round.

that work above is probabily 2 months wages, but i am kind of dipping into the bankers pocket alot at the mo (over draft), so i want to get out of that. the its tax test, and insure. then want it to go straight to a rolling road to get it setup perfect. i don't want to sound big headed, but i really like my car. its been designed and built with my mitts, a feeling of satisfaction and gratification everytime i look at it. its awesome and again i can't wait to drive her.

Steve the car looks georfeous as always and the smoothed tailgate which im not usually a fan of has really grown on me But for the first time ever im gonna criticise, although the exhaust before was OTT and stuck outt too much (could have been placed better) you now have the same exhaust as everyomne else whereas before it really made the car stand out

still a great fan of the car though and look forward to seeing it at a show soon hopefully this year, mini in the park maybe?

its the sort of look i'm going for. i know everyone has a side exit but more people have a center exit aswell! to be honest that exhaust was too ott, the turbo should make up the asbo side. i'm not after the in your face look, hell i had a huge 5" exhaust on my old escort. long gone are the max power days, i'm more into squeezing more power out of the bugger! but reliability is also a must. whens mitp? should be able to make it there.

just been adding up what i need and how much i haved to spend and it looks like i'm going to be pushed to have it ready for mitp!

so far this weekend, have fitted a magnet into the oil feed to the oil pump. the main reason for this is to prolong the life of my wee engine. and particles that do happen to get past the gauze on the central oil pickup will be hopefully stopped by this!

it goes in where the blanking plate is on the gearbox.
