So....the engine and box are out of the frame. Seperated the engine and gearbox.

Gearbox painted silver and clutch arm removed. Converting to the MGF hyd clutch arm and slave cylinder. Going to try and use as many factory parts as I can to prevent problems in future, such as having to modify a part to fit etc. This way I can use the mini master cylinder or similar setup with the MGF slave cylinder.

So......on order

1x clutch kit

1x clutch slave cylinder

1x clutch slave bracket

1x modified MGF clutch arm with grease channel

Been a while since I updated this.....

new clutch fitted to engine.

gearbox cleaned and painted, new brackets added etc etc.....THEN decided to swap it for a different ratio, so C6BP box purchased. Currently cleaning that up etc before refitting to engine.

Subframe in and out several times whilst modifying to clear steering rack....sorted that today after re-modeling some of the metal and also welding up some of the seams.

Cut the front end off, what a pig of a job. Spot welded wings to scuttle......but no access to get in with a drill or grinder so unable to seperate them. Brute force with a small sharp chisel and hammer worked it free. Couple of the spot welds ripped holes in the scuttle corner, but easy repair.

So the front is off.....need to decide if im gunna weld the bonnet to it or not.....

yes a very rotten mini van....plan is to make fibreglass upper quater panels (these panels are NLA new or pattern parts) to convert the estate into a van. Original plan was to cut the metal out and weld in, but more we look at the van, the more it begs to be restored (pending further investigation into documents).

First mould taken, so progress already.

On the van front, load bed is solid which is suprising considering the amount of soil, grass, weeds, stones that we had to dig out of it. Roof panel as been "knocked out" and is nearly back to original shape.

Jordie

Did you keep the front panel(or the grille section off this?)
