Thanks! Are you spraying outside then? Better hope the rain stays off while it's drying!

Yeah spraying with a gun and cellulose paint, mixing it in a 1:1 ratio with thinners. Done the first coat now so I'll get some pictures up to show the colour soon

Yea, outside, spraying thinned down rustoleum under a gazeebo with extra sides. Thin coats so hopefully it will dry quick lol.

The paint's all done! Dad's done an amazing job with it, so much better than we ever expected it would be for a driveway build! It originally had two coats, but after an attempt at polishing we ended up polishing through the paint to primer, so flatted it back and added a couple more coats.

I won't show you it in detail yet because it still needs to be polished which we are in the process of doing now, but here's an idea of the colour. Ooh the suspense!

Stay tuned, Tom

Lenny is primed, painted and polished! Pictures speak a thousand words on this one, so I'll let them do the talking...

The build is coming on now :D This week we covered the rear bench, rear bulkhead and roof interior in black carpet that we picked up at a show for a fiver which has turned out really well and makes it look smart.

This now meant we could bolt the roll cage in through the plates we welded in before, and with the new carpet on the roof it no longer rubbed on the headlining which was previously a concern.

Also, I bought a pair of jewel rear lenses!! Don't worry I haven't gone mad, I got some red spray tint at the same time and I'm chuffed with the end result - there shouldn't be too many like this about! I've gone for the US spec look at the back, and I'm thinking about getting a US show plate to finish off the look but we'll see... The only problem now is getting it through an MOT with fully red lenses, so I'll probably stick the old mk4 ones on for that. The plan is to wire up the fog lights to where the reverse lights used to be, and do away with reverse lights all together which, coupled with some new orange indicator lenses, SHOULD make it okay to drive about on the road with and avoid the attention of the plod. Hopefully.

Thanks, keep going with the build it's well worth it once you start bolting shiny new stuff on ;)

What kind or rear lights are those??

I think they're clear jewel ones or something similar, then I tinted them red

Dan all I can really say about the carpet is that they sell it in massive rolls at most car shows I've been to, not sure of any specific companies or anything sorry

I will, however, say that its not very easy to work with and is very reluctant to bend around contours, but with enough spray adhesive it eventually stuck :)
