Jackpants came over and removed the last bolts in the boot floor to remove the rear subby.. Im glad its off, its rotten!

Thank fully the heelboard isnt that bad, caught it in time!

I was going to sell the old subby but i dont feel it would be safe to, Once ive got pics you will see why.

Progress might be slow soon as im not too well at the mo :(

Why is it always the long bolts which dont snap, no matter how much you want them too! Every single turn of the long rear subby mount bolts was effort, i managed to snap a socket down-sizer adapter thingy and take skin off my knuckle and wrist.

And once they were out, afew kicks and clang, the subframe falls down

I need motivation, Barping around in the micra is becoming too comfortable - dare i say putting me off going back to the mini..

Whaaaaaaaaat? Surely driving around in a Micra is enough to make you want to get back in a Mini? Quickly - rip its engine out! ;)

Glad to hear the motivation has returned :)

Ive decided i hate the micra, Having spun it at a very low speed roundabout, constantly wheel spinning its plastic tires (By accident) and its general boatyness im tempted to chop the springs and run it slammed until the mini is ready

Ive sent the shell off for repairs, wont be getting any progress on it until its ready for paint. This leaves me time to focus on the engine and subframe which will be made by jack / me / friends.
Im glad the mini is out of my hair now.. was becoming a burden which is something i was trying to stop it become. Hopefully it will come back almost ready to rock.. its going be to a right mish mash of parts by the sound of it!
Anywho.. on the hunt for an engine now :)

So you've fallen for your blue Micra hey   and it gets to live? I'd only ever buy a complete car for a conversion.

Yeah the micra lives on.. for now ;)

To be fair i doubt the engine will be much use once ive finished with the car.. it meets the rev limiter on a daily basis and has 111149 miles on it.

Going to look for a fresher and less beaten engine as a base lol

Clean oil is key to making them last, mine pulls 120 in 4th in favourable conditions. Pull the mesh out and stick a trumpet inside the airbox, mine runs much sweeter like that.

Ok so now I'm trying to work out the headstorm that is the loom and ECU..

Heres the facts.. My micra is : Pre coil pack, Nats (immobiliser), 1.3 ECU driven..

Breakdown of this.. Nats will not work in the mini unless i put all of the hardware into the car (ignition barrel, door locks + sensors) which really wont happen.

You cannot simply disconnect the hardware from the loom as the ECU is programmed to look for the sensors and key before ignition. No likey, no lighty..

So - Why not run a Pre Nats 1.3 ECU i hear you ask? ... There isn't any.

However! There is a 1.0 Pre nats ECU. So I looked into this and they are compatible but the curve is different leading to a loss of power further up the band.

Booo! This is no good really, so im continuing my search for a suitable system. Im trying to save money as much as i can so a custom ecu thingy is not an option right now.

I'll keep looking! .. Oh, and i have a silly video to post soon if i manage to upload it :)

Early 1.3's can be had without NATS. Also Fusion motorsport can remove NATS from the later ECU.

An early none NATS ECU is not a simple plug and play to a later wiring loom either.
