Tried to lift the body off the subframe myself and almost down it but the subframe and engine kept falling forward. A quick call the the old man and with an extra pair of hands it was out and stripped.

My little boy thought it was great that he could stand in the mini.

No need for the engine steady mount any more so its gone.

1471939_10152363261604447_608237502_n.jp

Any extra holes in the bulkhead have been welded up

1441513_10152363261589447_395017307_n.jp

That inner wing needs to go to make way for the alternator once the engine is in

1452091_10152365764284447_2103213675_n.j

I left a good 1" lip around the inside to retain some strength

555959_10152365764289447_1189400528_n.jp

Bit of a wiggle and the subframe fits

1467268_10152365765109447_828530966_n.jp

Just need an engine now

Very nice project mate, not sure how I missed this. I'm sure it'll turn out just as clean as your ERA... but the budget has gone out the window eh? :P

Nice work on replacing the scuttle with the front end in place too, never seen that done before...

I welded an extra stud on the bulkhead from the inside for the servo relocation bracket, I didn't trust just one at the top and one at the bottom so it now has 3 points of fixing.

The old auxiliary fan still fits and clears the subframe. Not sure if to leave it in or not. It may help as some extra cooling. I plan to run and MPI radiator and fan.

I love White minis. The car looked GREAT before you started stripping it. But with your quality off work it will look even better when done.

Bulkhead box arrived so time for some chopping

1471355_10152371384154447_1601188500_n.j

I welded up the corners. My best bit of welding for ages then the gas ran out. Why is it always the last bit of gas welds the nicest?

1460301_10152371383929447_200087029_n.jp

I like to get into my work

1463114_10152371383944447_1063416100_n.j

What a complete nightmare to line up. I measured 3 times, cut the hole but struggled to get it to meet the measurements in the diagram. If I had followed the exact measurements I would have cut a good 10mm into the steering rack strengthening plate. On top of that my steering rack rises from left to right about 5mm. In the end I had to cut higher to avoid chopping to far into the rack. I hope it fits now?

1454925_10152371385224447_1747617466_n.j

Just got to weld it in when I get some gas. I think I will weld inside and out.

I'm fast running out of space in the house for mini bits.

Really liking this project, starts off with a nice budget resto then straight in with an engine conversion!

Keep up the good work!
