Fingers crossed I got all the brake pipes the right way round.
Almost time to start stripping the Astra, just a few more bits to do.

I'm getting worried I have the wrong subframe? The o/s/f engine mount looks different on mine to all the other small block subframes on here, it looks the same as the big block ones though. I thought the subframes were the same with different mounting brackets?

Some tips if it helps anyone else.
The starter solenoid, cooling fan, oil pressure switch, alternator, IND wire, and temperature sensor will all come from the existing mini harness
To get the Vauxhall harness to work just requires a 12v permanent live which can be taken from the starter motor main live wire, earth points bolt onto the head on the Vauxhall harness but the engine will need a main earth, 12v ignition feed from the ignition switch and a fused 20A wire run to the fuel pump. Optional will be an EML light, rev counter and DLC plug.
Plug situated beside the purple fuel pump relay

Plug below is on the loom at the coil end of the head.

All brake pipes secured with P clips
Don't tell the Mrs but the bath seemed the perfect location for cleaning up the loom.
Engine and gearbox removed from the Astra
I cut this lug off the front of the gearbox to allow a little extra room when fitting
And this small lug of the back of the gearbox
Ready for a clean up and rebuild

Wiring loom cleaned and repaired ready to go in the mini.
Loom is routed through o/s cold air vent and inside the inner wing to keep it all neat and tidy under the bonnet
ECU fits nicely on the dash
Air vent still fits with a little modification
Hall effect VSS vehicle speed sensor removed from the Astra speedo head, just got to work out how to connect it to the mini now.
We even have a MIL light

Engine cleaned prior to stripping. Looks like its going to need more work than I planned on.
Gearbox cleaned
F13 gearbox marked as W394 so I take it that's a wide ratio with a 3.94 diff so should give me 70mph at about 3300 rpm which is not too bad.
Hmm someone has cut the middle out of the thermostat. That's a worry!
The head gasket fire ring seal looks like it's been blowing so the head will need a skim no doubt. Not sure about a pressure test?
Leak test. No.4 failed with a slight score down the bore so I'm having a guess that it's got a broken ring.
Leak test on the head but I will lap the valves in anyway.

Spot the problem with the crank!
Way to far gone to consider repairing I think
And T shaped piston rings from wear
Anyway an new engine is being picked up on Saturday so fingers crossed it good enough to overhaul unlike this one
I decided to start working out where the engine mounts go, please shout if the don't look correct!
Rear gearbox mount with revised linkage location
Top gearbox mount
Front gearbox mount
Front engine mount and alternator bracket. Now I'm stuck here, something is not right? I can get all the holes to line up but then the lower engine mount hits the oil pump. Any ideas? This is a 2010 onward subframe so will look a little different to the earlier type.
