It is .001 thou TIR.  So I don't think the end of the crank is bent at all, hopefully just a balancing issue somewhere .  I'm pulling the motor this week. 

 

 

There ain't much wrong with that - I'd go for clutch and flywheel myself - assuming someone could balance those as a lump off the car?

So I found out that the previous owner of this engine had put A+ connecting rods with an A series Austin America crank.  Needless to say that they would have needed to be balanced together.   Learning the hard way.......

Wondering where on earth someone found an Austin Merka crank let alone why they chose to fit it.
