Nice progress! I'm curious about the bonnet stripes,... do they end purposefully high on the bonnet, or are they made for a mk2> grille?

On a side note i see you have the same Jack as me,.. I got mine 18 years ago and it's still absolutely fine!

The general consensus is that they are for the later bonnet (hindsight is a wonderful thing)

I have two of those jacks they are great little things, The second I bought in an emergency whilst on a job down in bristol after my 3 ton gave way on me.

Excellent read and a great build. Well done!

It looks like the end is in sight, I can't wait to see it finished.

Happy New Year everyone,

Continuing the slow but steady progress, I've finally managed to get the head lining in...............

I'll post a better photo when the light's a little better. it's not perfect by any means but overall i'm quite pleased with how its turned out.

This meant that I could now fit the front and rear screens.

I had intended to fit a heated rear screen but during cleaning i noticed that it had loads of deep scratches on it that would of just bugged the hell out of me if i'd have fitted it, so i went with the original unheated one instead.

Also managed to get the fuel tank fitted, which now means i can start the engine without having to dip the fuel hose into a can of fuel. Sadly in my haste forgot to take any photos.

cheers for now

It's from mni spares, this one I think

It's like a thin black vinyl, downside is there is very little stretch, so not the easiest to get smooth in the corners or around the B-pillars, also the stitching was not the strongest and would split if given enough of a pull.

But as i said, the end result is more than acceptable considering I did it all by myself.

Just another quick thank you to my mate John for supplying yet another "I'm sure I had one" part, which cleaned up quite nicely.

Just had another try with my headlining. Rather cold in the garage, I have given up for now the headline fabric (Cream Crackle) is very stiff and I’m not happy as there is no “give” in it at the moment.

I think (not that i'm an expert) but heat if definitely your friend when doing hadlinings.

t sounds like your garage is like mine where even with the best intensions it's impossible to get properly warm

Still cracking on with little bits and bobs, first to receive some love was the interior light.

Firstly had to re-terminate all the wires and lengthen the earth and switched earth as they were all fitted with the later spade connectors and needed the early bullet types.

The original light fitting was a little grotty an corroded so i decided to replace with new, the housing itself is great but the lens/diffuser is not.

Few careful waves over with the heat gun and a gentle push here and there and this was the end result.

YmNcSQQ.jpg

Once fitted in the car didn't look too shabby

Next up i finished fitting and gluing  the bulk head carpets and upper dash liners.

And because i'm an impatient bugger i couldn't help but drop in the front floor carpet just to see.

cheers for now
