Thanks Boo...

I have just started bidding on some adjustable hi-los and some adjustable shocks so hopefully i can geet the rear end set upand get the arches sat right then fit them and get the back half sprayed and all sorted, hopefully.

I am having quite a bit of trouble trying to get my welding downwhich is really starting to do my head in!

Once i have got that nailed i can get my rear valance and de-seam the sills but untill i get my welding sorted, there isnt much i can do :w00t:

today my mum told me that she spoted a metro 1.3 on the way to pick my brother up, she said it looks in good nice and they only want £195 and i am sure that i could knock them down a bit on it. I am thinkg of buying this and taking the engine and brake set up, would it b simle case of just fitting it all to my mini?

So HOPEFULLY thats £150 for a brake set up and a engine which isnt to bad at all i dont think! and then i can possibly strip the car and ebay it or some thing, maybe scrap it or save it for a rainy day.

I have also put a few bids in on ebay for some spax adjustable shocks, adjustable ho-lo's and a fibre glass front.

This evening i went to the garage to get some photos of my car for you but like usual the camera ran out of battery so ill grab some tommorow some time once ive got back from seeing this car.

I have decided to spray the car myself, looking at the sections i have just quickly had a go at it doesnt look that bad so i think i will do it myself and then wait untill i can afford a profesinal job.

Today my mum showed me the car, its a 1.4CD so i am considering a K-series conversion... Iwill keep the thread updated.

I have my welds to a suiteable level, they look a lot better and are a lot stronger so i am pleased with that. gasless C**p!

Reet.

My plans for my project have totaly changed so here is a lil wee update.

Thanks to legendary nick he has sorted me out on a 1.4 GTi metro because the 1.4 CD was desil  . So i intend to do a K series conversion with a 1.4 16v DOHC rover engine.

I intend on using the standard metty subframe and add aditional box sections to the floor mount brakets so they are of the right length. BUT this means i have to use metty suspension, wheels ( :'( ), sterring rack/colum and brakes.

I may then add a clubby front end to replace them rather gash looking extended front ends.

I may then once the engine is set up complete and running get some custom made driveshafts that have been lengthened so that i can retain the 100mm PCD instead of that crappy 92.56mm or some thing mettro PCD.

once that has been done I shall go about de seaming the sills and MAYBE the whole car depending how things go. I may also consider having some funky kind of light swap but its just a idea at the moment. I still have the smothed voot in the garage and i want to have the rear (show plate) number plate located either in the rear window or really low, like on the bottom of the rear valance on the right with light bolts so its MOT friendly.

I still have some patching to do on the inside, but thatts the borring stuff.

I will get some pics up tommorow porbably because looking through here i have about 3 pics.... and if it dont have no pics then its rather borring.

Should have my metty on saturday!!!

If your going to the hassle of custom drive shafts id stick to modding a mini subframe so you can retain the standard lenth front end, mini wheels and original mini track. Much easier i reckon.

that is my future plan, i am going to fit the rover subframe and just get the engine running and that just so that i know i havent screewed anything up. Then i will make my own subframe so that i can keep my wheels, although i have found some beastie 10x13's which i may just have to buy

They are bolted on with 4 bolts mate!

I think from memory they are 1/2" (but don't quote me)(in Fact I think I used an 11mm Scocket, not sure)
But yeh, they are on by 4 bolts, take your time with them thou, as I have known some of the bolts to break!
Maybe socking them with relase fluid/WD40 over night will help

how do i get that thing off?

I tried a bit of de-seaming on my sil lip but it wasnt going to good, my welding is burning through and i dont really know how to stop it and still keep a strong weld. I plan to do it all over but in other places i can weld the seem up from the inside which i suppose makes things a lot better.

i have been thinking and here are my ideas. i have fell in love with Maguire minis and i think i have settled on making a replica. I have found a set of 13 diamiter and 10 wide split rims and tyres for not to much and i should put a order in for some maguire arches soon. I can then get my front orered and have a pretty mean looking marguire
