collecting my new pannels for my car now, i need...
drivers side a pannel
drivers side floor pannel
rear valance
could do with a scuttle
valance corners
also need to patch up the
rear heel board
rear floor
passanger rear quater under the window
found a roll cage up the road which i might buy and then add a few bars and that stuff.
I have chossent to go for a tahiti blue shell, with the roll cage painted cadbrys purple. I have come to the conclusion that the car will be deaseamed and will posibly have mk1 rear lights. My miglia arches are going to be bonded onto the shell and be altered a bit just to make the shell extra special. i am hoping to replace the boot floor for some thing flat and remount the battery in the back.
Hopefully my car will start to get some where now.

My advice would be to stop thinking about finishing touches at the minute, just get a fully solid shell to play with.
Keep it up.

Welding wise bert, to be honest no, ihave learnt as i have gone along, I started off using a gasless welder but i had a quick go on my uncles gas welder and i loved it, it was so much easier and was a lot tidier and i didnt burn through the metal at all which i did quite a bit with the gasless welder, so tommorow i shall go out and get myself a gas tank and have a go at deseaming using some gas aswell which should make life A LOT easier.
To be honest the hardest part is getting the filler to look half decent! Jack marshal said that to me but i thought id have more trouble welding rather to filling but he was right hehe. I have welded up from the inside aswell as welding on the outside which i find is a lot easier and i would have thought everyone would have done it but in certain areas like the roof and across the rear parcell shelf yopu cant weld from the inside which is a bit of a pain in the arse!
today i sat my smothed boot on and i got rather excited! i am after some MK1 conversion plates for my rear lights to give it a rather minimal look which should give it a rather tasty look, I am also going to alter the corners of my miglia arches so that they kind of "flow" off of the valance and into the arch.
He he i like this game

urm, main things i can say really is get a half decent welding helmet one that you can use with both hands free because it really does help being able to use two hands.
You want to hold the end o tip of the trigger about 10-15mm away from the metal you are going to weld (if you understand what i mean?) and keep your hand at a even distance from the metal sheet to keep the weld fluent if that makes scence.
You want to keep the handset (i dont know the real word for it hehe) at the correct angle so that you can see what you are doing withought the sparks all in your face because thats useless.
Always have a fire exsinguisher around i have been with a fair few people when sparks have flown off and set some thing alight!
Just play around with the settings have a little fiddl, the main thing to get right it the amount of wire speed correct with how much wire is being used so that not to much wire is fed and not to little is fed. I taught myself with no knowlage of how to weld and now although my welding is not that amazing, i have enough faith in it to deseam my car!
When you come to debumpering the rear valance, run a weld along the seem from the inside of the valance as this makes it a lot easier to take the lip off! But dont do anymore than 8 inches a time at the absoloute max due to heat distorsion.
Another small thing what amp is your welder?
I think thats all really sorry if i rambeled on a bit mate hehe! all i can say is get practicing and when you feel confident enough just give it a bash, if you fell you really have gone nipples up drop me a PM on here or some thing and ill be more than happy to pop down and give you a hand!
Tomm
EDIT...
Sounds like its going to be nice once you have finished
Thanks mate, I really hope you are right!!
