;):D :D:D :D:D :-:D :w00t::D Looks amazing :angel::D :1eye::D :angel::D :angel::D :D:D

Did you weld from the inside, cop part of the seam away then weld the out side? Also did you grind the weld back so that it is a bit smooth befor fillering of what did you do? If it ok to grind back a weld to make it look nice after the welding is dont or does this lose strength?

Also love the seats and wheels :D

he he ! Thanks a lot Tom! Im liking you more and more each day! The seats are going into be recovered in Faux leather soon and the wheels are going to be sand blasted and re painted! But hopefully you wont see them all because they will be hid in the arches :D

Ill take some photos and do a how to prosess for you Tom, I will even come down and start you off if you want? I started by welding up from the inside, then i took the seam lip off uuntill it was flush with the boddy, then i welded over where the two pannels met as you can see a very faint hair line. I then ground the weld back and went over any holes that were left and repeated it and slowly progressed up ;) Before you start is there any signs of corrosion on the vaklance then you want to replace it first, even if they are VERY slight because its a right pain in the arse trying to replace panels withought the seam!

Well im not doing it to the green mini but im picking up the next mini next weekend and then ill be doing a full rebuild with that so if you could knock me a how to process that would be amazing and would help me alot.

Yea i think that when i take the rear bumper off ill change the rear vallance whilst im there as i dont want to do it all then be messing arround with it soon after i debumper it.

If that goes ok i might go full out like you and do a full deseam but i duno if i will go that far as im only just learning to weld lol. but if i can pick up welding ok then i think i will as i think it looks amazing. ;):D

Ah great, I didnt think youd do it to your green one!

But yeh ill make you a how to mate will have to do it monday night when i get back from collage for you. I thought about only deseaming the rear valance but i thought what the hell i want my first car to be some thing diffrent so off i went with the grinder ;) and its very easy to pic up, the only worry i had was starting of and then messing it up and being stuck with a huge hole in my rear seam but its pretty easy!

If you need a hand with anything on your project give me a PM and ill be more than happy to help, I need to get out of the garage :D

EDIT:

And another :D

Ah great that ;):D. once i get the project i think ill go on a bit of a rust hunt then, once i have done this ill go at the rear lip and if that does well then maby do the whole lot, if i get stuff ill give you a should as im sure you would be able to give me some handy little tips. :D

Will you be putting a flip front on yours or what are you doing to the front end?

This is where my dilema starts...

I really do want a steel 2pc flip front as i have just bought the sexiest bonnet you will ever see but i dont want to rewin the whole look of the car by having a gap between the a panel and wing. But i think i will be going down the flip front route, BUT I have a VERY special idea for the flip font which you will all see soon enough :D I am starting at the rear and working forwards so its at the bottom of the list at the moment.

Yeah give me a shout and ill be more than happy to give you some advice.

I really hope for the p[roject to take off after i have been to bingly and bought some shizz ;)

Good work!

With the deseaming, you have made good steps. Now I would advise skimming the whole area with filler 2-3mm deep and then rub that all into shape.

This makes it alot easier to get the right shape and follow the lines of the body! Especially around the mini's waist, where its particulary hard to get right.

Also, be sure to get rid of any traces of nitro-mor/paint stripper before priming or painting.

Keep it up.

Yeh painting is last on my list of to do!

think I am going to go for a tahiti blue effect, I followed a tahiti nue copper home the other night and it was just so sexy!

The waist line is a reet pain in the arse to get right aswell
