Hello all ππΎ. Im brand new to The forum and amazed of the helpfulness and knowledge on here. Great community!!
I currently own a 2000 JDM mini that was converted from auto to a manual (friend had a spare manual block i was able to use) the car is running okay but the coolant temperature only seems to rise slighty over the blue line. And seems to run a tad rich as the ECU thinks its cold. Even after a 30/40 minute drive in warm weather the needle only sits above blue line. At idle its 1100/1200 rpm.
The car used to have air con but since the engine replacement it wasnt re-installed.
I have just had the CTS replaced aswell as a system flush and a new 88Β° thermostat.
But still the problem persists. Anything else i can check?? Im not mechanic but dont mind taking on small tasks lol.

Have you used your old water temperature sensor or the one from the replacement engine, is the fuel gauge reading properly ? Did you use the thermostat from your original engine or the one from the replacement engine ? Lots of questions before you can get any answers....welcome to TMF by the way.

Check what the actual temp is. Most likely incorrect sender or incorrect wiring.

Thankyou for the welcome and reply. The old engine was from a carburetor verson and my injection unit has gone onto it. There is an old coolant temp sensor still in the block but no wires connected to it. My CTS is on the manifold like all SPI cars. The fuel gauge works fine aswell as all other dash clocks. The temp gauge does lift but only slighty over blue my millimeters and stays there. Ive have noticed a sooty exhaust tip and bad economy. Aswell as idle at around 1200rpm.
Could it be that i use my original ecu that was originally for a automatic transmission??
I used the same thermostat the car always had but changed it last week as thought it may be the culprit. (New 88Β° And new CTS fitted)
But problem still seems to persist. My brothers 98 cooper warmed to temp within 10 mins.
Maybe the lambda sensor is clogged and failed??
(I havenβt got a diagnostic kit to Check that)
Thanks
