I am thinking maybe I should of made it a bit more, maybe 5 thou, due to me using a Orange diaphram.
When I first built the engine, I though the clutch felt heavy, but I got reasured that, its how a Orange plate feels. When it came to driving for the first time, the clutch felt "juddery" but then, I've always thought pre-verto clutchs were either on or off....
But other than that, all felt fine, drove ok etc...

and if its 1275 after 1990 it should be 0.051 to 0.076mm and Vizard says on small bore go 2-3 thou over top limit and 4-5 thou on big bore thats Inch for high reving motors. so what is std? i could go and look but its snowing!

As I read it in the Haynes, this means I have 4thou end float?
I am using a brand new crank, so it 0/0 and thrusts as standard. I am using "std" AE Thrusts, so I guess standard must be 4thou?

maybe that is the problem combined with the uprated clutch.
I would get those yellow poly rubbish engine mounts changed. dont live long at all!!

There engine steadies, and I've been running them for years, and never really had one die....
Yeh the crank is an A+ crank, which is a CAM 6454 or something like that.
I have a few books, light blue, dark blue, green and a purple one somewhere. I have been quoted to use 0.004" by Nick Swift, Simon@morspeed, and Minispares... but I can't help thinking, its going to happen again

eh?dog, with the centre cap fitted and no thrusts in, are both faces flush with each other? just make sure the cap is the same size as the bearing holder bit on the block.
I don't think I explained that very well

Engine mounts?
There engine steadies,
Thank you thats what I meant. I had some for one race and that was it bin time.
The measurement is correct, your in the tolerance, something else is not, did you put it in back to front?
just looked at the photo again looks as if it spun as that is not poss you must have put it in the wrong way. it can happen.

Only thing I can think of is the primary transfer gear thurst? The measurement is correct, your in the tolerance, something else is not, did you put it in back to front?
As i am checking the end float, with no transfer gears on if I need transfer gears on to measure the gap, can someone explain how I would go about doing this?

yes you did, if the main cap is not correctly postioned for example its turned around this may have an effect.
I would check that Dog. you know which way round the main cap should be?
