Yup! >_< After 16 hours driving without music over the bank holiday weekend going to Newquay and back we (well, lemmingzappa... Taking any credit myself would be completely unjustified!) wired up some speakers from panelbeaterpeter (thankies!) and a CD player which I'd given in and bought... Since been offered 2 free, typical!!

Twice on the way home from my parents' house tonight my headlights went out  It seems completely random, and they come back on of their own accord or after twiddling the fuses - a little help anyone? :errr:

if ur only fidling with fuses and working again, sounds like connections loose or a little corrosion on the contacts

Hmm - still not good being plunged into darkness :) lol

All's left is to check oil and water, and wash it, before L2B this afternoon :D

He's been a little minx - his headlights don't actually have any fuses

See if your dash lights, side 'n tails go off too. If they do it's likely the light switch or the wiring before it. If not, the lights themselves or possibly the dim dip switch. Look at the earth connections up front and where the headlamp wires go through the inner wing - they're the usual culprits. You might want to carry a torch, just in case :D

p.s. if it makes you feel better I later realised my neighbour may have left me a CD player, but didn't think to leave the code as well before flitting off to Spain :) .

Yes all the lights (and dash lights) go off, I've tried flicking the switch when they go but that seems to make no difference. There has been a bit of work done in the engine bay the last few weeks so I'll look in there, try to follow the wires :- God knows where I'm looking, or what for, though

The supply to the light switch comes off the fuse box on, but not through, the fuse for the horn and and head lamp flasher, dunno if you noticed if they go off too? Find the fuse with the purple wire coming off it and have a look at the brown wires on the other side of it.

You could check the connections on the solenoid too.

Full beams still work when the lights go off... If that's any help.

Narrows it down to the light switch or the wiring between it 'n the fuse box.
Probably the wiring if you can jiggle it back to life from under the bonnet.

Find the connector on the fuse for the horn that doesn't stop the horn from working if removed, that'll be the culprit.
