Had the day off work today, so managed to get a fair bit done, now all thats left to do so i can remove the old engine is knock out one balljoint in the offside hub, so i can drop thew driveshafts out, gotta get a ball joint seperator to do that though!
Borrowed an engine hoist off one of my dads mates so fingers crossed should be removing the engine on wednesday night!! Tommorrow evening will be spent assembling the new engine as I bought the gaskets for it today....So hopefully by the weekend i shall have the new 998 beast in and ready to roll

Its a +0.030 998 pre A plus block, with a 12G295 head and 544 cam, which I know is going to be a bit lairy, but as its the kent profile, its a little less lumpy than the leyland one so im keeping my fingers tightly crossed itll be alright...My old man said he used to run a 544 in his 1100 back in the day and said it wasnt too bad, so should be good!

Been busy with it over the past couple of days, got the old engine out on wednesday night, and now all thats left to do on the new block is to bolt it to the box and assemble the clutch side!
Finally got the flywheel off today, was stuck on rather well! So if all goes to plan the new engine should be fully built up by tommorow, and if i have enough time i may even drop it in!

Rob.

Engines in and running! :D Not to be briallantly though, as i'm using an 850 dizzy and its not timed in properly....Only a couple of things to sort out, waters leaking from the heater takeoff on the head, and a small oil leak from the timing cover, ill take some piccys of it and wack them up in a bit.

Cooper dizzy from jonesy arrived today, so went out after work and fitted it!
Goes properly now >_< dead pleased with how it drives considering it was a very budget engine (aside from gaskets etc I only spent about £100 or so on the engine!)

Went to MITP at the weekend (no excuss not to as its only 5 mins from my gaff to pod) Picked up a few bits n bobs; Got some mkII rear lights, a small spot that i'm going to use as a reverse lamp (a bargain at £1!!) and a central speedo, i'm going to attempt to make myself some works stylee dash pods aswell to fit a revcounter, should hopefully be pretty good when ive got it all on and sorted!

Yea oval pod type...theres a box folder at work so can use that to make the dash pods! I'm not really bothered if they don't look exactly right, but ive got loads of aluminium in the garage, so can attempt to make em for nowt, before shelling out the £90 odd for the proper ones.

Been making up my dash panels at work, look pretty good for free! Dash is almost finished now, need to spray up the works pods and secure the central speedo properly.

I'll get some pix up at the weekend if i get round to it!
