Lovely car mate, how much better is your engine over a standard 998?

Ta...to be honest mate i'm not sure 'how much better' it is haven't had it on the rollers yet, and needs properly setting up and can't remember what the old engine drove like! It pulls a lot better upto 6 grand compared to what I can remember the old one being...I've been told it should be around the 50-60bhp mark if setup fully.

Thats not too bad then.
Standard power of a 998 is 40hp so youve made a good increase there.
Good luck with whatever youve got planned.

Well just been for a final blast in the mini, as it comes off the road on thursday and tomorrow will be spent in the pub!! Took it out on some lovely country roads near me...through harold, carlton and felmersham in beds if anyone knows the roads....Behaved very well except due to me not using it and being so damn cold when I pulled over to wipe my screen it died, and the battery had been drained from spots, rear heated screen etc...so had to jump it, thankfully that only happened just outside my village so got me old man to come out and jump it!

Rob.

Easy now!! Its been a little while since i've been on here...but got a new job now so ive decided to try and get the min back on the road for L2B! Not really got any plans at the minute just take it as it comes...but will be looking for more power so thinking either turbo or decent spec NA on a silly cam!
Got a few weeks till I start work so will hopefully start stripping the shell down a bit to get rid of rust...so may have a few updates soon.

Got my L2B application ready to send off now....so no going back! Gonna start on it tomorrow by getting the engine ready to be lifted and stripping it out a bit more...i've already stripped out all the sound deadening on the floor and seatbase (thankfully only found a tiny bit of rust)....just need to get rid of the last little bits still clinging to the metal!

Been out in the garage today and yesterday doing the filthy horrible job of getting up what was left of the bitumen on the floor/ seat base after i scraped the majority of it off aaages ago. Its looking fairly tidy inside now...few bits that'll need treating and a couple of holes that will need plating so pretty pleased with how solid the floor was underneath!!
Started it up for the first time in months aswell to move it accross so I can get around it to sort out getting the engine ready to be lifted!

Also i've decided i'm going to go for a pretty high spec NA engine when I get round to putting it in(so I can have a decent lump that will take forced induction if I have a craving for more power in the future!!) ....thinking of buying the MED Type 'R' short engine kit or getting something similar sorted for it...so basically fully lightened/ balanced internals not sure what size overbore to go with, going to ring round a few places and see what they think!! Couple that with a pretty lairy cam and worked head should fly!! Though to be fair that engine could be a bit of a way off depending how much I need to spend to get it back on the road!
