Managed to get the block painted over the past few days, due to the weather I made sure I gave it a bit longer to fully dry before starting the build. Today ive cleaned all the over spill of paint and blasted all the galleries, bores etc out with air. Tomorrow I can start to fit the crank, and drop the pistons in :withstupid:.

Put in a order to minispares for the rest of my stuff that I need, including my cam followers which means I cant put the cam in until I get those, but it all should be here in a day or two because its a biggg order.

Also since my late post I've had my crank balanced.... £47!, took it straight to the place where it seems all the other engineering places take their stuff, one place quoted me £140!, when you think though thats the cost of the work plus petrol money (because they would need to send it out), plus their bit of profit on top.

They done a good job of it, had 16 grams off the crank and 25 grams off the pulley!

Here some pictures of my freshly painted block as of today, the paint used might look like normal red high temp paint but Ive been told the engine produces 20% more power if its red so...... ;).

Done absolutley nothing today other than pop round bud666's so we can measure my backplate lugs and check the clamping force of the flywheel, its slightly off skew but with the power im going to be running it should be nothing to worry about.

Im waiting for my minispares order which should (fingers crossed) be ariving tomorrow, then its in the garage so I can start playing.

Hello Paul. Never realised this was your Mini until now! I took two pictures of it at Himley.
Looks really nice, I like the rear fog light. I might get one of these for mine ;)

Good luck with it, :genius:

Cheers for the comments guys, the engine bay looks a bit messy but it was a rush job to get the engine in and running, when I drop this 1310 in im going to clean and paint the master cylinders, clean the baulkhead etc, so it will suit the rest of the car, nice and neat ;).

You may see it at malvern, depending weather I can get the engine built, running and all the kinks ironed out.

I brought it from a show, but they tend to let water in so I wouldn't recommend one if you use your car through the winter, they tend to rust easily. Im on my 2nd one now as the first one I tried to drain the water out of and it peeled off the red glass foil.

I brought my 2nd one off ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item33581923f6

Had my minispares order come, downside is its a bit late to start building it today and would rather have a fresh day on it tomorrow.

Heres the goodies. In that lot are all the bits to convert the lump to pre-verto, also the shineyyyy 1:5 rockers, oil pump, water pump, build lube :), timing disk, cam followers and also rocker spacers.

Ohh rite, I use mine alot through winter so I guess I won't be getting one of these! Thanks for the link anyway, they look so much nicer than the standard fog light!
