Thanks guys. I’m not to keen on the eye lids to tell the truth. My fiancé loves them, I think I’m gona have to loose them in the garage some where so when it comes to putting everything back on they won’t. LOL.

Had a really bad day today. I finished the last coat of filling on Friday before work and to tell you the truth I don’t know what happened, but the filler just hasn't gone off. I think I must have not put enough hardener in or the other possibility is I used the wrong hardener.

Well the short of it is I had to scrape all the filler off today and apply a new coat. What a pain. Wasted around an hour removing all the filler I applied with a Stanley blade and rough sand paper. Well I suppose it is all part of the course.

Things are moving on with my dials. I have decided to use the old centre dial I brought a few weeks ago but make a few amendments to it. I have replaced the mechanism with the one from the dials in the car already and plan to paint the dial and apply new numbers. I have also brought 2 Oil pressure gauges this weekend at SMD. These are all striped out, cleaned up and ready to put the fuel and engine temp gauges in.

Not a major difference but something little that mini enthusiasts will notice, I also wanted to use a different font to modernise the dials a little.

I seem to be having trouble getting a good fit around the boot at the mo as well. I have posted about this in the 'Paint, Detailing and Bodywork' area if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.

I will update with some pics when I have a chance.

I think I had one of the most productive days work on the Mini on Saturday. I shipped the Mrs off to her mums along with my son and got cracking.

The rear bumper / valance is now removed, all I need to do is tidy up a few edges and a few of the old spot welds before attaching the new one.

Most of the filling and sanding on the body work is now complete. I have also applied a coat of high build primer ready for a fine sand down. Lets just hope it come out well.

I even managed to slap a bit of hammerite on to the pedals when I had some time spare.

Today I finished the first part of my new dials. I have put the fuel and engine temp gauges from my original (Mk3) 3 pod dials in to 2 of the old smith's gauges. I’m really pleased with how they have turned out I just need to finish the speedo now. All I need for that is some vinyl numerals made up then I can make a start of all the wiring of it.

Should have some time off work soon so will be able go get some more done.

Its about time I added a little update.

I haven’t really done to much more to the mini in the last couple of weeks, but thought I would share what I have done. I bumped in to an old mate the other day and turns out he is now working at his dad's body shop. Result as he has offered to help me finish off any body work I need to do. So in the mean time i decided to concentrate on other areas that need work.

I have nearly finished the speedo and have begin a new topic in the 'other projects' area. Link below.

http://www.theminifo...showtopic=95830

Had a dead night at work last week so brought in the top of the carb, some metal polish and my dremel. I was able to polish it up really well actually as you can see from the before and after pics.

I have begun dismantling the rear subframe ready to paint and fit the hilos etc.

How can something that should be so easy escalate and take ages >:dontgetit: At some point in the cars lift some idiot has decided to weld the 4 top bolts holding the trailing arm brackets on (think that’s what they re called) As i have new brackets with my suspension setup i decided to cut the heads of the bolts and take it from there. Its still a work in progress at this moment though. :o

Hopefully over this week i will be able to sort this out and get everything cleaned up and painted. Fingers and toes crossed.

I finally feel like I am getting somewhere with this again now.

I spent the other day cleaning up and painting a few parts and finally managed to remove the bolts from the rear subframe romover 2 of them by cutting slit in the top just like a flat head screwdriver and managed to unscrew it. The second 2 were well and truly in there and the only option was to drill them out and replace the bolts.

Thats about it really but will soon be fitting the rear hilos etc and should have the rear end fully assembled in the next week. Fingers crossed.

Sorry there has been no news from me for ages on here. I have been so bust over the last month with both work and out of work. The Garage was in a right mess with mini parts everywhere and a load of other C**p finning every avalable space. Anyway i have a nice clean usable garage now and have finally had some time to get something done on the Mini and get on here.

I have begun reasembeling the rear subframe with my new hilos, negative camber brackets, and a load of other cleaned and painted parts, Im just waiting on my braded brake hoses and rear brake shoes from Mini Sport now before i can finish the rear subframe. I will hopefully have an update with pics very soon.
