Hi friend! I had the same problem and solved it with this.
Don't be afraid, you just need to have a good pulse, work in good light and file between 1mm and 1.5mm. When both surfaces are at the same height, place a solid thick washer (12A1211) that Minispares sells.

It does bolt on - they just forgot to tell you that you'll need to mess about for it to work with the other components that you need to fit too!
