it went again due to pinking, again! i don't plan on just throwing another gasket on it this time though

tomzo heres another picture for you

wheels - 13x7 superlites with a048 yoko rubber
arches - sportspack, front fiberglass rear rubber non genuine

right now, again i was on the motorway, giving it abit of stick, and hear the tell tale pinking noise. i back off and get off at the next exit, only to find a roundabout beggin to grace my wonderous rubber. pooof! white smoke belows out the back. poo. thought bugger it, i'll just get home as i'm not waiting 2hours when i only live 10minutes away. that was yesterday. took head off when i got home from work, and its blew in the same place on cylinder 2 in the water passage. so with the head off i thought i'd get some measurements of the size of the dishes. just roughly it looks like its 21cc, which i think is standard so my compression ratio must be higher than i thought! will calculate the compression ratio tomorrow as i'm too tired now.

on a lighter note i manage to get hold of some 1.5 ratio full roller rockers for a price you wouldn't believe.........free! they are second hand and have quite a bit of wear in place but all the important bits are in good nick

miniboo i've been using the bk450. alot of people over on turbo minis run a bk450. it is a good gasket, when everything running right.

supermotolee, i was told the dizzy was a turbo one (but t@z was unsure), but when the car was rolling roaded the operator didn't think it was a standard turbo dizzy and did have to alter it.

right, accurate measuring of the head chambers revealed that they were indeed standard cc (21 ish). this made my compression ratio around 9.5. standard metro turbo has 9.4. so not a great start! currently i have modified 2 chambers to around 23cc, but i plan to take them all to around 25-26. this should lower my ratio to somewhere around 8.6. which means i can run more boost, which makes more power!

Steve,

the dizzy i got was from avonbar and i can see if i can find the invoice but i did specify a turbo dizzy when ordering, cost me a good about 170ish i think. the problem as mentioned in pm was that when the car was in at W&P they had issues with getting the timing in the right place due to the amp and the oil cooler take off i think o.O..

i am unsure how they overcome this, changing the dizzy i dont know. as said i had many problems with them one was not even refitting the tower bolts so i would not put this past them. When i went to see them about all the problems they had the guy who was working on my car had been fired due to incompitence i beleive....

from avonbar site
A+ Turbo Electronic with Vac £ 136.80 £ 160.74 ....so about 170 inc postage

only other thing i can think of was when i was reading about a john speed incident is that is the head/block flat. i don't know myself what work went on sorry as i got it off ebay as a turbo project but some guys gasket kept going becuase of this? just something to think about i guess. i would assume it is but you never know..

the reason it went on me was because of pinking (95% sure it was anyway) which only damaged the gasket and then blew through with the boost. mike (rolling road operator mikeanics) said that either the compression ratio was too high or the turbo was buggered, but the turbo is fine, no excess oil from the seals and i checked the turbine for damage before bolting it all to the car. as above my compression ratio is sorted now, and the dizzy should be ok. i might get a megajolt system some time in the future, just so the ignition system will be tip top. i'll check my dizzy numbers just incase
