Roofless, whats the bar running across the slam panel?

we're considering removing part of the slam panel to give better clearance for airfilters to the throttle bodies - and make space for a possible turbo up-grade at a later date.

the bar would be welded in just below the remainder of the slam panel as re-inforcement, we would also put in a couple of gussets to facilitate a front engine steady onto the BMW head.

Ah yes makes sense now! Not a bad idea seeing as there is a massive engine mounting point at the belt end

looking good mate, another car I will have to keep an eye out for I guess. Will not be in my mini tho as I think I killed my clutch the other day coming into work :P

dont ask me why but i thought the green mini was running an R1 engine? shame really as I've got a shiny full barnet clutch kit sitting on the shelf and I'm in need of a few quid ;)

I heard last week at Minits theres some kind of shortage of performance clutches for a series? any truth in this ?

Of shortage of options? Or supply? It depends which clutch you have, pre-Verto or Verto. Pre-Verto clutches have a good number of different clutch and flywheel combinations you can get, Verto not as many, but I believe there are still a few, and I've heard Minispares are working on a couple more options.

minits were suggesting shortage of supply, as in he didnt have any, and wouldnt have any for some time to come - something to do with QH swapping production to alternative plant. ?

Sorry I didnt reply Martin, tis club night tonight. For cast welding theres a company in coalville called cast iron welding that are pretty good - they welded a crack in the head of an engine of my dads and it held fine.

This looks rather good! Pity you have to fiddle about with the bonnet, loses the street sleeper appeal.
